Foixà, in Baix Empordà, is a group of small towns that stand out for their charm and heritage. Among its jewels are the church of Sant Joan, the church of Sant Llorenç and the castle, as well as the cross of King John I the Hunter, a monument that marks the spot where King John I of Aragon died in a hunting accident. Another point of interest is the ancient mediaeval village of Sidillà, whose remains, hidden in the forest, reveal the ruins of the church of Sant Romà, one of the oldest in Baix Empordà and Catalonia.
